Topic: Convection, Break-up and Exploration

“No-one argues that the Earth’s lithosphere responds topologically to the underlying forces of mantle convection. Yet the influence of mantle convection during rifting and drifting is still contentious. Seeking the fingerprints of paleo-dynamic topography we will journey from the structure and convection of the mantle (using tomography and zircons), through the variety of character we see on passive and transform margins (using plenty of seismic), to confront the processes that break continents, the implications for late-rift and drift sequences and why the future of exploration depends on them. “

Neil has been exploring for hydrocarbons for over 40 years with various energy companies such as BP, BG and Premier Oil, blundering into a variety of Oil and Gas discoveries around the world on the way.

14 years ago he joined a Multi-Client seismic company to tell hydrocarbon tales about their seismic library and he is currently a Director of Searcher focused on acquiring new multi-client seismic datasets into exciting new hydrocarbon stories
