Abstract

The Future of Geothermal Energy

In this presentation Andy will discuss the recent evolution of the geothermal energy industry due to the adoption of technologies from Oil & Gas, their influence on the shape of the industry today and their potential influence on the future.

Additionally, Andy will touch on the contribution of Oil & Gas personnel and the part they have to play in the Geothermal Energy industry of the future.

Speaker Biography

Andy Wood – Primeval Energy

Andy describes himself as a Cornish, Vegetarian Eco-Warrior and an Energy Pragmatist. He has a BSc (Hons) in Earth Science from Queen Mary College (University of London) and 30 years Upstream Oil & Gas experience, specifically in Subsurface, Drilling & Wells.

Through his Oil & Gas career Andy developed skills in operational optimisation and cost reduction, ultimately managing large Subsurface teams, creating efficiency and reducing waste. Andy combined his passions for Oil & Gas and Environmentalism to transition to Geothermal Energy in 2020.

With a strong focus on a measured and sustainable, inclusive Energy Transition, he is a proponent of the holistic approach to energy provision.

Andy spent nearly 3 years as Subsurface Manager at a Geothermal Energy Company before progressing to the role of CEO at Primeval Energy. A company working internationally, providing Geothermal Solutions with a Technology Agnostic approach.

Andy is also an Ambassador for the Geothermal Energy Advancement Association.
