Topic: Optimised Exploration Portfolios: How to Analytically Identify the Best Asset Combination for your Budget

Abstract

The talk details how investment theory can be used to determine the optimal portfolio (measured by NPV or EMV) given a certain investment constrain, based on the concept of the Efficient Frontier (Markowitz). Prospective Resources curves, POSg, POSe, expected capital expenditure, conditional risk for exploration wells and success case cash flows are modelled as inputs to the optimisation software. The analysis provides a tool for decision makers to rank and optimise their exploration portfolios.

This meeting is organised by the Risk, Resources, Economics and Commercial SIG committee.
