Course Description

West Africa Petroleum Systems

Facilitator: Duncan MacGregor, Geologist

The course aims at providing a review of the regional development of the West Africa margin through time and of the high level controls on reservoir, seal and charge. It is aimed at providing the regional picture to delegates which may be conducting most of their work at a sub-basin or block scale.

In order to aid concentration and interaction, each day with end with a series of poll questions which will consolidate the key learnings of the course. The first day will concentrate on the plate level controls, including paleotectonics, paleoclimate, paleogeography and source to sink systems while the second and third days will cover the main regional petroleum systems and basin scale studies.

Delegates will be provided with a copy of the presentations, which include hundreds of original maps and cross-sections, and will use these to answer the poll questions.
