Abstract

Awakening a Dormant Giant: Galapagos Field Redevelopment (NW Hutton & Darwin)

The Galapagos Field, comprising of the abandoned NW Hutton Field and the Darwin Discovery is located in block 211/27 in the East Shetland Basin. The original field and 52 wells were completely abandoned in 2003 but production analysis reveals that most wells had under produced due to inadequate water injection and integrity issues.

An integrated evaluation, utilising detailed sedimentological and sequence stratigraphic interpretation combined with the iterative feedback from the 20 years of production history identifies that there are still significant remaining reserves. Bridge Petroleum plans a phased redevelopment approach, using tried and tested technology not available or applied in the original development. The first stage targets the recently certified 2P 80mmboe reserves.

Thank you to Bridge Petroleum Limited for sponsoring this lunch meeting.
