Topic: The Energy Trilemma 2022 – where do we go from here?

Abstract

The offshore energy industry continues to operate in a dynamic environment, with a complex range of geopolitical, economic and social issues impacting industry’s social license to operate.  OEUK’s Communications, Advocacy and Insights Project (CAI) is an initiative which is focused on transforming the understanding of our sector, repositioning the industry and sustaining its integration within a comprehensive UK energy strategy.  With the energy trilemma of security, sustainability and affordability back in focus, there has never been a more important time for an initiative like this.

This presentation, given by Jenny Stanning, External Relations Director at OEUK and one of the CAI Project’s leads, will give an insight into the current external environment that the UK’s oil and gas sector is operating in.  Taking account of what has been a turbulent political period resulting in a new UK Prime Minister and Cabinet, coupled with a challenging business environment, security of supply concerns, and post-COVID recovery, Jenny’s presentation will examine the events of the past year, how sentiment toward the industry has tracked, and what may happen next.

Jenny previously gave this presentation at the in-person Aberdeen ‘Bevvies and Banter’ event and she has kindly offered to give the presentation again, online so
anyone who was unable to join and non-Aberdeen based PESGB members are able to attend.
