I have spent my career so far working in Aberdeen and the UKCS specifically. I have experience of the exploration and development sides of the industry and believe both are key to the future of the UKCS. I am also passionate about field geology, and the influence that any outcrop can have on our thinking as petroleum explorers, where we often spend much of our time in front of workstations. Over the past two years I have enjoyed working with the PESGB team planning and leading three successful field trips to localities in the Aberdeenshire area for members.

If I am successfully elected for the role I hope to assist with building on the range of outreach activities that have been held, such as the Stoneley Lecture Series. I believe professional societies such as the PESGB should lead the way in positively promoting geoscience to the community, and particularly young people. From personal experience, I realize that society events provide members with the opportunity to keep abreast with the industry and network when times are not so good. This is important, and I would work hard to maintain the current standard of events in Aberdeen.
